A tragic escalation unfolded in Yemen‘s Taiz province following a deadly assault by the Saudi coalition on the Al-Hadharah market in the Al-Wazi’iyah district. The strike occurred during peak shopping hours, resulting in over 30 civilian casualties, including both fatalities and injuries. Rescue operations and searches for missing individuals beneath the rubble remain ongoing, with officials warning that the death toll is preliminary and expected to rise.
In an official statement, Yemen’s Supreme Political Council strongly denounced the targeting of civilians and non-military infrastructure in Taiz, labeling the act as a blatant violation of national sovereignty. The governing body placed full responsibility for the bloodshed and its subsequent humanitarian and legal consequences on Riyadh, emphasizing that safeguarding public safety and national security is an absolute priority.
Furthermore, Yemeni authorities called upon international organizations, including the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to abandon their passive stance regarding ongoing violations. In response to the tragedy, the supreme governing body directed relevant state institutions to provide immediate assistance to the victims and their families while rigorously documenting the incident for future legal proceedings.
