The representative of Russia supported the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations

The representative of Russia in the Security Council supported the proposed resolution for the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations and considered it a supporter of peace.

Vasily Nebenzia, Russia’s representative in the Security Council, said in a meeting about Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations: “Recognizing Palestine will help resolve the conflict between the two sides in the long run.”

According to Al Jazeera, he also strongly criticized the statements of the ambassador of the Zionist regime, who said that Palestine does not have the necessary criteria for full membership in the United Nations, and said that this regime was previously accepted in the United Nations despite not having these criteria.

Nebenzia also pointed to the constant obstruction of the Zionist regime against the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza and said: “Israel targets humanitarian convoys in Gaza and prevents them from working.”

Analysts say that it is unlikely that the Security Council will approve the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations today, and the United States will probably veto it. However, regardless of the result, this vote will put more moral and political pressure on America and the Zionist regime and will increase the isolation of both sides to some extent.

It should be noted that the Security Council resolution needs at least 9 votes in favor to be approved and must not be vetoed by 5 permanent members (China, Russia, France, England and the United States).

If approved, this resolution will go to the UN General Assembly, which has 193 members, where Palestine must obtain two-thirds of the votes of the countries.
