Guterres said: I ask the Israeli cabinet and Hamas leaders to reach an agreement for a ceasefire and the release of prisoners. I ask Israel’s allied countries to convince Israel not to conduct ground military operations in Rafah.
He continued: The attack on Rafah has devastating effects on the Palestinians in Gaza and dangerous consequences in the West Bank and the entire region.
The Secretary General of the United Nations added: Attacks on convoys and humanitarian facilities and people in need are not allowed. I ask the Israeli cabinet to speed up the process of the arrival of aid to Gaza and ensure the security of the accompanying convoys, including UNRWA.
Guterres continued: It is important that an independent investigation be conducted regarding the newly discovered mass graves in Gaza. The war has destroyed the healthcare system in Gaza, and some hospitals in this area now resemble cemeteries.
The UN Secretary General said: There is a plan to implement the recommendations of the independent report prepared on UNRWA. I ask the member countries and donor parties to provide the necessary funding for the continuation of UNRWA’s work.
