Taiwan president’s reaction to Beijing’s new directive on “separatists”
Report Webangah News quoted Mehr News Agency quoted by France 24, “Lai Chingte/William Lai”, the new president of the island of Taiwan, in response to Xinhua’s claim about Beijing’s new law on issuing the death sentence to supporters of Taiwan secession, claimed China has no right to punish the people of Taiwan.
Beijing, which considers Taiwan a part of its territory, has intensified pressure on this island in recent years, and after William Lai came to power in the recent elections of this island, In response to his inauguration speech, he held a military exercise around Taiwan. China has called the new president of Taiwan a “dangerous separatist”.
According to media reports, in continuation of China’s pressure on Taiwan in line with the peaceful annexation of this island, Beijing has enacted and promulgated a new law on Friday, according to which for crimes which occurs with the intervention of the supporters of “Taiwan Independence”, the death sentence will be considered!
In response to these reports about the alleged instruction attributed to the Chinese government, Lai said: I emphasize that democracy is not the source of crime, but tyranny is its source.
He claimed: China has no right to punish the people of Taiwan because of what they support. China has no right to cross-border prosecution of Taiwanese people!
The separatist president of Taiwan also claimed that if China “does not accept the existence of Taiwan and does not engage in dialogue with its legitimate and elected government, the relations between the parties will be more than It will be dark”!
He claimed that this is the right way to improve the welfare of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Beijing has severed high-level ties with Taiwan since 2016 and called William Lai’s inauguration speech “an admission of his separatism”.
