The defense adviser of the new British government accused four countries

Britain's new government's defense adviser has claimed that the British military must be capable of dealing with what he called the "deadly quadruple".

Lord George Robertson, who has been appointed by new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to review the country’s defense policy, claimed that “we are faced with a deadly quartet of countries that are increasingly working together.”

He added: We in England and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) must be able to deal with this particular group as well as other problems that have engulfed the world.

Robertson did not mention the names of the countries of this “deadly group”, but according to the British media, he referred to China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

Robertson was the Minister of Defense in the then Labor Party leader Tony Blair’s government from 1999 to 2003, and at the end of that period, he was the Secretary General of NATO. Recently, in a press conference in London, he explained the challenges that England is facing.

He claimed that the recent NATO summit last week “made it absolutely clear that the threat posed by China is a matter that must be taken very, very seriously.” What is going on in Asia-Pacific can happen very quickly in Europe-Atlantic”.

According to British media reports, this is the first time a government official has used the deadly word to describe China. The former British conservative government, despite the pressure of the right-wing representatives, avoided describing China as a hostile country to avoid worsening relations with Beijing.

John Haley, the new British defense minister, claimed at the same meeting that the country needs a “new era for defense”. Accordingly, he called for a broader role in the government’s economic growth programs for the defense sector and military industries and added: “If we only use additional funds to reduce the pressures in the current programs and plans, we cannot deal with the very dangerous situation we are facing.” Let’s face it. We must do something to be better prepared to fight in the future, to be able to defend the country better and to be able to prevent the threats that we may face in the future.

According to this report, Robertson’s mission includes a wide range of revisions, including in the field of recruitment and training of military forces to participation in international cooperation and modernization of the military forces. Two other personalities are supposed to help Robertson in realizing these goals and regularly inform the prime minister about the progress of the goals of the strategic review plan.

Fiona Hill, an expert on Russian affairs who also has American citizenship, will be George Robertson’s colleague, along with General Sir Richard Barons, who was the former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. Of course, since Ms. Hale had testified during the congressional impeachment against Donald Trump, the British media expressed concern that her appointment would lead to criticism of Trump, who has a high chance of returning to the White House.

While Robertson has undertaken the mission of reviewing British defense policies, the country’s military forces are in a state of disrepair according to most military experts.

Not long ago, The Times wrote in a report that the power of the British army has decreased to such an extent that it is not considered a high-level military force by the United States. In April of last month, a number of British defense ministers and former security managers described the situation of the army as “critical” and emphasized that the government should address the issue of the lack of soldiers and ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Sky news agency reported that if a war broke out, the British armed forces would run out of ammunition “within days”; This country does not have the ability to defend its skies against the missile and drone attacks that Ukraine is enduring. It takes five to 10 years for the army to field a combat division consisting of 25,000 to 30,000 soldiers supported by tanks, artillery and helicopters.
