UNICEF: 77 million children in the Middle East are malnourished
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, according to Sharq Al-Awsat, according to the statement of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), at least 77 million children in the region struggle with nutritional problems in some way.
UNICEF added that 55 million children in this region are overweight or obese, and these malnutrition problems are observed especially among school children in all 20 countries of the region.
According to this statement, also, one third of children and adolescents in school age are overweight and obese, and another 24 million children suffer from malnutrition and related diseases. They are like being short and thin.
Adil Khizr, the regional director of UNICEF, called this statistic surprising in 2024 and warned that the situation may worsen as conflicts and crises continue.
