France: We learned about Chad’s decision to cut security and military cooperation
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoine announced in a statement that Paris was informed of Chad’s decision to cancel the defense cooperation agreement between the two countries, but the intention is in talks with “N’Djamena” (the capital of Chad) to continue.
According to Lemoine, “France has discussed with its partners two years ago about the reconstruction of its military resources in Africa and has reviewed this issue.”
He also claimed that direct talks are underway with the Chadian authorities and they expressed their desire to develop a defense and security partnership.
The Chadian government announced yesterday Saturday the end of defense cooperation with France, which was amended on September 5, 2019, and described it as a historic milestone.
Last Thursday, during the meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrow, the President of Chad, Mahamat Idris Debi Itno, asked Paris to review its relations with Chad. respect the sovereignty of this country and deal with Chad on an equal footing and put aside the colonial restrictions.
