The Kremlin: Kyiv has not yet responded to Russia’s ceasefire proposal
Kremlin Spokesperson Says Kyiv Has yet to Respond Officially to “Victory Day Ceasefire” Declared by Russian President
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, reports that Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, stated Kyiv has not yet officially responded to the three-day ceasefire ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin in observance of the anniversary of the Red Army’s victory over Nazi Germany.
Peskov remarked: “It was President Putin who demonstrated goodwill yesterday by declaring a ceasefire in honor of Victory Day. We have received no reaction from the Kyiv regime.at this stage, it is difficult to determine whether the Kyiv regime intends to adhere to it.”
He also noted that Putin emphasized Russia’s readiness to engage in unconditional negotiations with Ukraine. According to him, Kyiv has still not responded to this proposal either.the Russian diplomat added: “Under such circumstances, discussions about the need for slightly increased pressure once again confirm that europeans unfortunately continue favoring an escalation of war. instead, we are focused on current efforts toward a peaceful resolution.”
Moscow announced yesterday that—in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Red Army’s WWII victory over Nazi Germany—a ceasefire would be observed from 12 PM Moscow time on May 8 until 12 PM on May 11.
