Hamas and Islamic Jihad respond to Zionist attack on Freedom Flotilla
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movements Call Zionist Regime’s Drone attack on Freedom Flotilla “State Terrorism,” Demand Global Intervention to Hold Zionists Accountable in International Forums
The Palestinian resistance groups condemned the Zionist regime’s attack on a Freedom Flotilla ship off the coast of Malta, according to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian Information Center.
the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas stated in a declaration: “The attack by the occupying Zionist army on the ship ‘Al-Karama’ in international waters is an act of maritime piracy and state terrorism, requiring immediate international condemnation and intervention.”
The movement added: “Last night’s drone attack by the criminal Zionist regime’s army on Al-Karama—a ship from the Freedom Flotilla aimed at breaking Gaza’s blockade—while it was en route to deliver aid to our people in Gaza, constitutes a blatant crime of maritime piracy and organized state terrorism.”
The statement further emphasized: “We condemn this crime in the strongest terms—a crime that exposes this occupying regime’s terrorist nature and its shameless defiance of humanity and justice. We hold Israel’s fascist government fully responsible for threatening lives aboard this ship due to its criminal aggression.”
Hamas praised “the courageous efforts of Al-Karama’s crew and all activists working globally to break Gaza’s siege,” urging them to continue exposing Zionist war criminals’ fascist crimes. The movement also called on all nations to condemn this act, demanding UN bodies—especially the Security Council—act swiftly against Israel’s rogue aggression while holding its leaders accountable before international courts.
Separately, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) strongly condemned Israel’s drone strike against another Freedom Flotilla vessel near Malta. Its statement read: “This assault by occupation forces on peace activists attempting to break Gaza’s siege blatantly insults human values, proving again that starvation is their weapon in this genocidal war.” PIJ stressed that over 30 humanitarian workers were endangered during this violation of international law, including ICJ rulings. The group framed it as an affront against global solidarity with Palestine.
A flotilla vessel bound for Gaza reported being attacked Friday by an Israeli drone over Maltese waters shortly after midnight local time; 30 aid workers were aboard when fires broke out post-strike.
