Commander of UNIFIL western sector Israeli forces must leave Lebanese territory
UNIFIL Calls for Complete Withdrawal of Zionist Regime’s army from Southern Lebanon, Citing Violation of UN Resolution 1701
The United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) has demanded the complete withdrawal of the Zionist regime’s army from Lebanese territories, warning that its continued presence north of the Blue Line constitutes a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn russia Al-Youm, UNIFIL cautioned that the zionist regime’s ongoing presence could escalate tensions and destabilize the region.
During a visit to the town of Al-Dhahira in southern Lebanon, Major General Nicola Mandolesi, commander of UNIFIL’s western sector, emphasized: “UNIFIL fully supports local residents.” He stressed the importance of strong and continuous coordination with the Lebanese Army,which continues demining operations in the area—a critical step for ensuring civilians’ safe return.Mandolesi stated that peacekeeping forces remain deployed in the region and are committed to supporting southern Lebanon’s population.He added: “We reiterate our call for Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory, as its presence north of the Blue Line blatantly violates Resolution 1701. Meanwhile, our coordination with the Lebanese Army remains robust as we assist its deployment efforts to restore security and stability while collaborating with authorities to enforce sovereignty in southern Lebanon.”
