CNN Israel and Syria held direct talks in Azerbaijan
According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and CNN, the Zionist regime and Syria’s new rulers recently held direct talks in Azerbaijan.
A Zionist source told CNN that oded Basiuk, head of operations for the Zionist regime’s army, representatives of Syria’s new rulers, and some Turkish officials where present at these talks.
ahmad al-Shara, the self-proclaimed ruler of Syria’s system and former leader of the terrorist group Hayat tahrir al-Sham (HTS), had also stated last week that indirect negotiations with the Zionist regime to halt attacks on Syria were underway.
So far, no official Syrian source has reacted to reports of direct talks with the Zionist regime.
The CNN source did not disclose details about the meeting’s agenda or which party mediated it. Simultaneously occurring, Channel 12 of the Zionist regime was the first to report on this meeting.
A few days earlier in Saudi Arabia, Donald Trump, then U.S. president, announced during a meeting attended by Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Crown Prince; Jolani (al-Shara), SyriaS self-proclaimed ruler; and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s president (via video conference), that sanctions on Syria could be lifted if relations with the Zionist regime normalized.
The meeting between Jolani and Trump in Saudi Arabia drew critically important media and public attention. The U.S. had previously offered a $10 million bounty for Jolani (Ahmad al-Shara), former leader of HTS—a designated terrorist group—yet Trump warmly welcomed him during this encounter while praising him publicly.
