Al-Qaida-linked militants attack Alawite village in Syria

According to webangah News Agency, militants affiliated with the terrorist ​Al-Julani group attacked the village of Al-Zawba, predominantly inhabited by Alawites, yesterday.

The village, located near Baniyas, saw several ⁢residents abducted by the militants during the assault. Areas surrounding baniyas have recently witnessed repeated attacks of this nature.

Separately, a correspondent from Al-Mayadeen network reported today‍ that the body of a⁣ security officer ‍from Bashar‍ al-Assad’s regime was found in Ghbab,⁣ north of Daraa.

Assassinations and​ killings have surged across Syria—notably those driven ⁤by retaliatory motives following attempts to overthrow Assad’s government.⁤ As ⁢extremist groups gained influence⁢ in Syria, multiple assassinations targeting former⁤ officials ​have been‌ recorded.
