Russia says Zelenskyy unfit to sign Ukraine conflict settlement agreement
According to webangah News Agency, Rodion Miroshnik, Russia’s Special Envoy for Kyiv Crimes at the foreign Ministry, stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is “not the right person” to sign any agreement resolving the Ukraine conflict due to his legal status.
The envoy added: “We want no legal vacuum to remain from a juridical standpoint.”
Miroshnik further emphasized that kyiv’s position—limiting discussions in Istanbul solely to a ceasefire—contradicts Moscow’s approach. He noted there is currently no written agreement between both parties regarding a resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
Zelenskyy has indefinitely suspended presidential elections in Ukraine under martial law, citing the ongoing war wiht Russia.The elections were originally scheduled for March 31, 2024.
