Reuters Syria and Israel hold direct talks
According to webangah News Agency, Reuters cited five informed sources stating that Syria and the Israeli occupation forces have recently engaged in direct negotiations.
Reuters reported that these talks began after Bashar al-Assad’s fall last December and the rise of terrorist groups affiliated with Jabhat al-Nusra in damascus—allegedly encouraged by the U.S.—marking a shift in Washington’s foreign policy toward Joulani-led Damascus.
While indirect negotiations between the two sides had been ongoing as Assad’s ouster and the ascent of terrorists led by Joulani, reports indicate recent direct contacts between security officials from both sides. These include Ahmad al-Dalati, head of security for Quneitra and suwayda provinces under Joulani’s regime, engaging with Israeli representatives.
The identity of Zionist regime delegates remains undisclosed, but two sources confirmed involvement by Israeli occupation security officials. Multiple rounds of in-person meetings—some held in Israeli-controlled areas—have reportedly taken place.
The current focus is on de-escalating border clashes, preventing Israeli incursions into Syrian villages, and maintaining security. Though, two sources suggest these discussions could pave the way for broader political agreements.
