Hungary’s Orban warns Ukraine joining EU would have devastating consequences
According to webangah News Agency, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that European public opinion has become convinced that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union woudl create major challenges difficult to overcome.
He added: “Europeans believe admitting Ukraine would place a heavy burden on the EU. the key question is how much public sentiment influences European leaders’ policies.”
Orbán emphasized: “During a recent two-day meeting in Hungary, I consulted with participants from France, Italy and Poland. It became clear there’s a deep conviction among European citizens that ukraine’s membership would pose an existential challenge for Europe – an unsolvable one.The bigger issue concerns European democracy and whether politicians truly reflect their nations’ views.”
The Hungarian leader warned of dangerous economic consequences, stating: “This decision would amount to financial disaster and economic suicide. In the long term, it would have devastating effects across Europe – from Hungary to neighboring countries like Poland and Romania.”
