EU Commission Chief Speaks with Netanyahu
According to webangah News Agency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke with Israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call, emphasizing the need for negotiations to end the conflict between Iran and Israel – though she did not call for an immediate ceasefire.
During a press briefing, von der Leyen detailed her conversation with Netanyahu, stating: “Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons under any circumstances. Without doubt, negotiated solutions remain the best long-term option.”
The EC president reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions while stressing israel’s right to self-defense.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the European official stated: “iran is the primary source of regional instability, and Europe’s position has always been clear: Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons. There is now an urgent need for a negotiated solution.”
The official bluntly emphasized: “We have repeatedly expressed concerns about Iran’s nuclear and missile programs-the same missiles that today indiscriminately target not only Israeli cities but also Ukraine!”
