Massive Wildfires Rage in Turkey’s Izmir – Video and Photos
According too webangah News Agency, Turkish media reports confirm widespread wildfires in Izmir province, western Turkey, with images showing massive flames engulfing forested areas.
Local authorities state the fires began yesterday and continue spreading due to strong winds reaching 40-50 km/h. Four villages have been evacuated so far.
Izmir Airport has suspended all flights as the wildfires intensify near the region.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı reported: “The fire grew more severe overnight in Kuşadası and Doğanbey districts due to high winds. Over 1,000 personnel are currently battling the flames using helicopters, firefighting aircraft, and ground vehicles.”
