Uruguay’s President Stresses Advancing Cooperation with Asian Countries
Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation with Asian countries during his address at the Mercosur summit in Buenos Aires, according to webangah News Agency.
Orsi stated that Uruguay seeks to establish trade agreements with Asian nations,clarifying that this does not signify any distancing from the regional Mercosur bloc. The president made these remarks during the 66th Mercosur Summit of Heads of State.
the Uruguayan leader also emphasized advancing negotiations between the economic bloc and both South Korea and Canada, affirming: “Uruguay considers Mercosur a essential national policy and the primary platform for regional integration.”
In his speech, Orsi highlighted notable achievements during Argentina’s temporary presidency of Mercosur, including complete agreements on trade, combating organized crime, natural disaster response, and healthcare policies.
