Trump: Ukraine Must Be Able to Defend Itself; We’re Sending More Weapons!
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, US President Joe Biden reaffirmed America’s commitment to supplying weapons to Ukraine following a several-day suspension, stating the country intends to “fully equip Kyiv.”
When questioned about the decision during a press conference, Biden responded: ”We aim to send more military equipment. They need to be able to defend themselves.”
The White House emphasized: “Ukraine is currently under intense bombardment. We’ve decided to increase arms shipments – primarily defensive weaponry.”
This advancement follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s remarks after his call with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where he stated Moscow is “closely monitoring all public statements by the US president.”
The United States has converted Tomahawk missiles with cluster munition warheads, some precision-guided munitions, HARM anti-radiation missiles, and several other weapons into a package for Ukraine, according to webangah News Agency. This comes a day after Trump stated that Washington would continue sending arms to Ukraine but must prioritize safeguarding it’s own stockpiles.
The U.S. has reportedly repurposed Tomahawk cruise missiles with cluster munition payloads, select precision strike assets, HARM missiles used for suppressing enemy air defenses (SEAD), and additional weaponry as part of a new military aid package bound for Ukraine. The development follows former President donald Trump’s remarks insisting that while arms shipments to Kyiv should continue, Washington must first ensure the preservation of its own critical munitions reserves.
