Washington Reacts to Drone Attacks on Oil Fields in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region
The U.S. Department of State responded to the drone attacks targeting oil fields in the kurdistan Region of Iraq, stating: “We condemn the drone attacks on Kurdistan’s oil fields since July 14.”
The statement added, “Attacks on oil fields in Kurdistan threaten Iraq’s stability and economic future. The government must protect it’s territory and citizens.”
Meanwhile, news outlets reported explosions heard in Erbil just minutes ago.
Earlier, the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Service announced that an oil field in the Baadre area of Duhok province-operated by American company Hunt Oil-was again targeted.
Hours earlier, Kurdish anti-terrorism officials said explosive-laden drones struck facilities belonging to norwegian oil and gas company DNO in Zakho district, also located within Duhok province.
