U.S. Announces Withdrawal from UNESCO

The U.S. Department of State announced its decision‌ to withdraw from UNESCO.

According to the English ⁤section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency⁤ and the official website ‌of the U.S.Department of State, Washington informed audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on Tuesday⁢ of its decision to ⁢leave‌ the ⁤organization.

The statement from ⁢the U.S. Department of State claimed that continuing membership in ‌UNESCO no longer serves the national ‌interests of the United‌ states. It accused UNESCO ⁤of ‍promoting divisive social and ‌cultural⁣ agendas and focusing excessively ‌on United Nations Lasting Progress Goals-an agenda seen as conflicting with America First foreign policy.

The White House cited UNESCO’s decision to admit “the State of Palestine” as a full member as‌ a key reason⁢ for withdrawal. The move contradicts⁢ U.S. policy and has encouraged anti-Israel‌ sentiment within the organization.

It is⁤ indeed ⁢notable that former President⁤ Trump had also withdrawn from UNESCO during⁢ his first term in office.
