Israeli Regime Destroys Thousands of Tons of Gaza Relief Supplies
The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr news Agency via Al Jazeera, reported that Israeli radio and television announced the occupying army has destroyed tens of thousands of tons of aid, including large quantities of food intended for Gaza’s besieged population amid an unprecedented famine.
The Israeli media outlet cited military sources stating that the lost aid consisted of shipments equivalent to a thousand trucks carrying food and medical supplies.
These sources added that thousands of packages are left under the sun, warning that if they are not transported into Gaza soon, they will have to be destroyed.
The outlet claimed that humanitarian goods were destroyed due to failures in the distribution mechanisms within Gaza.
This destruction by israel’s army comes while approximately 2.3 million residents face hunger and famine threats in the region.
The move occurs amid global protests and calls from political leaders and international organizations urging pressure on Israel to allow aid into Gaza and end its nearly two-year-long war against the territory.
In recent days, many world cities have witnessed large demonstrations condemning Israel’s blockade on Gaza and deliberate starvation tactics against its people. Calls for an immediate ceasefire and guaranteed unrestricted humanitarian access continue to rise.
In his latest remarks condemning starvation tactics against Gaza’s residents, Michael Fakhri, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, told Al Jazeera sanctions must be imposed on Israel as mere verbal condemnations are insufficient.
He stated that Israel is blocking accumulated aid at border crossings before global eyes. He stressed that Arab countries must persist in efforts to facilitate delivery of supplies into Gaza.
