Crowd Surge at Indian Temple Kills at Least 6
At least six people died in a crowd crush at a temple in northern India.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,quoting Mehr News Agency and The Autonomous,a crowd crush at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar,northern India,resulted in at least six fatalities.
local media reported that the stampede occurred on the steps leading to the temple. Several others were injured and taken to hospital.
A senior police official stated that rescue teams saved around 33 people at the scene; six of them later died.
The temple typically faces large crowds each year between July and august. Reports indicate this year’s attendance was higher than usual.
