Iraq Judiciary’s Firm Resolve to Prevent Baathists from Infiltrating Parliament

Iraq’s judiciary has taken‌ measures⁣ to prevent individuals affiliated with the dissolved Ba’ath⁢ Party from entering⁢ parliament ahead of this fall’s parliamentary elections.

The​ English section‌ of webangah News Agency ‍quoted Iraqi WAA ​News Agency via Mehr News Agency‍ reporting that ⁤Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council emphasized the strict implementation of the Accountability and Justice commission law and the prevention of entry ‍for‍ individuals linked to the banned Ba’ath Party into parliament.

The supreme Judicial Council issued a statement saying it hosted a meeting attended by Judge Faiq Zaidan, head⁣ of the Supreme Judicial Council; deputies of the⁣ Federal Court⁢ of Cassation; Basim al-Badri, head of the Accountability ‌and Justice Commission; and⁤ several commission members.

The meeting reviewed measures taken by ⁢the Accountability⁤ and ​Justice Commission⁣ regarding‍ the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Participants agreed​ to strictly⁢ enforce the‍ Accountability and ⁣Justice Commission⁤ law to bar‍ those connected with the dissolved‍ Ba’ath Party⁣ from ‌entering parliament.

They also agreed that commission measures must be clear, ensuring no misuse occurs beyond what is stipulated in law.

It is ​indeed worth noting that ​Iraq’s government has scheduled parliamentary elections‍ for November 11, 2025 ‍(Tuesday, November 11).
