Three Suspicious Drones Infiltrate Japan’s Nuclear Facilities
Japan has revealed the intrusion of three drones into the premises of the Genkai nuclear power complex in the southwest of the country.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Nikkei Asia, Japan’s nuclear regulatory authority announced on Sunday that three luminous objects, believed to be drones, entered the grounds of the Genkai nuclear power plant in southwestern Japan.
The Nuclear regulation Authority stated on Saturday that it had been informed about this incident by Kyushu Electric power Company, operator of genkai’s four-reactor facility, but offered no further details at that time.
Flying drones over or near nuclear power plants is strictly prohibited.
An official from the regulatory agency described Saturday’s incident as “highly unusual.”
