Former Colombian President Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Bribery and Witness Tampering
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Álvaro Uribe, former president of Colombia, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for bribing and pressuring witnesses.
The verdict was announced during a live court session broadcast on Radio Caracol. The prison sentence was reduced to house arrest.
uribe was also ordered to pay fines and barred from holding public office for 100 months and 20 days.
Uribe served as Colombia’s president from 2002 to 2010. He is the first former Colombian president to be convicted.
