Former U.S. Officials Say Tel Aviv’s Claims About Hamas Are False
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Ma’an, Jack Lew, former US Ambassador to the Occupied Territories, and David Satterfield, former US envoy to the Middle East, emphasized in a joint article that there is no evidence that Hamas deliberately steals humanitarian aid shipments in Gaza.
They added that neither the US military nor the United Nations has provided any proof that Hamas engages in such actions through the World Food Program or other international organizations.
The statements by these two former US officials challenge Israel’s allegations that Hamas diverts humanitarian aid sent to Gaza.Tel Aviv has used such false claims about this “Gaza Humanitarian Institution” as a pretext; though, distributing aid through this body has rather become a deadly trap for Palestinians.
Lew and Satterfield further noted that USAID had reached similar conclusions but faced opposition from policymakers who rejected their agency’s report.
