Former Israeli Commander Calls Netanyahu Cowardly and Ineffective
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestine Facts center, reports that Aharon Haliva, former chief of Israeli military intelligence during the October 7 attack, confessed in leaked audio recordings that the killing of 50,000 Palestinians was deemed necessary as a deterrent message for future generations.
According to Israeli Channel 12, Haliva stated in these recordings: “After October 7, I said that for every Israeli killed, five Palestinians must be killed. It doesn’t matter if they are children or women; this message must be ingrained in future generations so they remember that a catastrophe happened and this is the price.”
Describing the situation on the morning of October 7, he said: “Everything collapsed and no one was able to manage the battle. Once the Gaza division surrendered, nothing could be done. If we had listened to Sinwar’s words and others before the attack, no one took them seriously; no one imagined such an assault. Our arrogance led us to underestimate Hamas’s military achievements.”
The former intelligence commander criticized Netanyahu as extremely cowardly and ineffective. He called for an official inquiry into the events surrounding October 7. Haliva also labeled former Chief of Staff herzi Halevi as suffering from megalomania and held Shin Bet mainly responsible for intelligence failures prior to the attack.
