Netanyahu Seeks to Oust Israeli Military Chief of Staff
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via Al Jazeera, Channel 13 Israeli TV cited israeli sources reporting that members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office became highly angered after Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir demanded a firm agreement regarding Gaza.
The report indicates that Netanyahu’s office is considering sidelining Zamir and appointing a senior official above him as chief of General staff,as Zamir opposes occupying Gaza City due to the IDF’s current state of exhaustion.
Military sources noted that Zamir is unlikely to agree to such measures.
Reports reveal that last Thursday, during a cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Bezalel smotrich and Chief of Staff eyal Zamir clashed over how to advance the assault and occupation in Gaza Strip.
According to these reports, Smotrich told Zamir: “You are not interested in achieving our war objectives.”
Zamir responded sharply: “You don’t understand anything about these matters and can’t even distinguish a brigade from a battalion.”
