Tel Aviv Responds to Extensive Egyptian Troop Deployment in Sinai Desert
The Israeli military has responded to the extensive deployment of Egyptian forces in the Sinai Desert.
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, reported that Israeli military sources quoted an army spokesperson claiming that the deployment of Egyptian troops in the Sinai Desert is coordinated with Tel aviv under the 1979 peace agreement.
Thes remarks came in response to media reports about a significant Egyptian military buildup in northern Sinai.
Earlier reports indicated that around 42,000 Egyptian soldiers had been stationed there along with 1,500 tanks and other military equipment. Military bases and air defense systems near the Gaza border have also been reinforced.
