Hungary: Nord Stream Sabotage Bears All Signs of State Terrorism

Hungarian Foreign Minister describes sabotage‌ of ⁣Nord⁤ Stream pipelines as​ state terrorism following arrest of Ukrainian citizen in Italy

According to the English‌ section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr‍ News Agency and TASS, Hungarian Foreign Minister⁢ Péter Szijjártó reacted to the arrest of a ‍Ukrainian national in Italy suspected ⁣of involvement in the explosion of the Nord Stream ‌gas pipelines in ​autumn 2022. He stated ‍that this sabotage displays all the characteristics of ‌state terrorism.

Szijjártó emphasized: “Based on available information, it appears highly likely that this case involves ‍state terrorism. When a terrorist act is carried out using‍ state resources and with government support, it is considered state ⁣terrorism. This case resembles such an act.”

Last week, 49-year-old Ukrainian⁣ citizen ​Sergei Kuznetsov ‌was arrested in ⁢Italy under an international warrant issued​ by Germany. He ⁢is accused of complicity in organizing attacks on the Nord Stream ‌and ⁣Nord ‍Stream⁢ 2 pipelines in September 2022.The ‌German prosecutor’s office alleges he was⁢ part of a⁢ group⁣ who planted explosives⁣ near Bornholm on these pipelines and identifies him as one of the coordinators behind ​the attack. ⁣Some reports indicate Kuznetsov collaborated with Ukrainian intelligence until 2015.

On September 26, 2022, three⁤ underwater sections‌ of Nord stream and Nord Stream 2 suffered severe damage; notably, ‌Nord Stream 2 had not yet become operational at that time. Russian ⁤Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has ‍affirmed Moscow’s conviction⁤ that the sabotage was carried out⁤ with U.S.support. the Russian Prosecutor‍ General’s Office ⁤has‌ opened an investigation into ⁣international terrorism related‌ to this incident.
