Germany: No Meeting Will Take Place Between Putin and Zelensky
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing MTV Lebanon via Mehr News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced today that it is absolutely clear that a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy will never occur.
This comes days after Steve Wittkoff, former US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to West Asia, suggested that a bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy was possible.
Wittkoff told Fox News, “I think chances are this probably goes to some kind of one-on-one meeting.”
He added, ”My personal view is that the presence of (Donald Trump) as president would be essential to finalizing the deal at the negotiation table.”
on August 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated there were no plans for a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy. He added that Putin would be prepared for such a meeting if a clear agenda was presented.
