Turkish Foreign Minister Holds Talks ‌with U.S.Secretary of State and Trump’s Special Envoy

According to​ the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency‌ and Sputnik, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said he held discussions with Steve ⁤Witkoff, ​former ​special envoy of U.S.President Donald Trump, and⁤ Rustem Umurov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security council.

Fidan⁢ also spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio about security guarantees for Ukraine⁤ and Turkey’s role in this process.

He⁢ emphasized ‍that Turkey remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Ukraine.

A source ⁤at the Turkish Ministry of ⁣Foreign Affairs told Sputnik ​that during talks with Rubio ‍on Ukraine’s ‌situation, Fidan expressed Turkey’s readiness to fulfill its commitments in the peace process.

Earlier, ‌Turkey’s Vice ‌President Fuat Oktay announced the ‌possibility that⁢ Turkey could ⁣host a potential bilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President ‌Volodymyr Zelensky.Oktay ⁤highlighted efforts ​by Turkish President ⁣Recep Tayyip Erdoğan aimed at resolving ​the war⁣ in Ukraine, ⁣noting ​that a⁢ meeting between Zelensky ⁣and Putin might take place in Istanbul.”Why not?”‍ he⁢ said.

Erdoğan has‍ repeatedly declared his⁤ willingness to advance peace efforts over Ukraine and organize possible⁢ negotiations between Russian and ​Ukrainian leaders.

Turkey ⁢previously hosted three rounds ‌of negotiations between the two countries.
