Arab Expert: Hamas Captures Israeli Military Officer
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency,Nidal Abu zeid,a military and strategic expert, told Al jazeera that the success of the Palestinian resistance in executing a complex nighttime chain operation against Israeli occupation forces highlights their efficiency and signals declining readiness and combat effectiveness across various branches of the israeli army.
He described the operation carried out in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern gaza City as distinctive both strategically and tactically. Abu Zeid noted that conducting this operation in an area where Israeli forces are striving to advance demonstrates their unpreparedness for military action. He pointed to erosion within their equipment, organizational structure, manpower shortages, as well as internal tensions between political and military leadership.
Analyzing Gaza’s military posture, Abu Zeid explained that the intensity of firepower unleashed by Israel indicates efforts to halt clashes with resistance fighters and rescue their soldiers. This suggests Hamas successfully captured at least one Israeli soldier during these engagements.
Israeli media reported activation of “Hannibal protocol” amid attacks on troops operating inside al-Zaytoun to prevent soldiers from being captured.
Abu Zeid also pointed out that what transpired in Al-Zaytoun validates statements made earlier by Abu Ubaida-the spokesperson for Hamas’s Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades-who emphasized at nightfall that capturing enemy soldiers is not merely a media threat but a strategic tool aimed at breaking operational balance with Israel.
In a series of Telegram posts late Friday afternoon, Abu Ubaida stated that Qassam fighters remain on high alert and fully prepared to deliver tough lessons to occupiers. He stressed any captive killed during hostilities would be publicly identified with name, image, and proof of death.
Nidal Abu Zeid added that Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement about launching the first phase of “Operation Gideon Wagons 2” feeds illusions both among Israelis and within Washington.
Israeli media reported last night that regime soldiers faced repeated ambushes by resistance forces inside Al-Zaytoun neighborhood. They confirmed at least two soldiers were killed and eleven others wounded during these operations. Additionally, contact has been lost with four Israel Defense Forces members who are potentially held captive by Hamas fighters.
