Arab Expert: Hamas Captures Israeli Military Officer

An Arabic-speaking analyst examining the consequences of⁤ last night’s Hamas ambushes against Israeli soldiers said developments on‌ the ground indicate that Hamas ⁢has succeeded in capturing⁣ an Israeli soldier.

According ⁢to⁤ the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency,Nidal ‍Abu zeid,a military ⁤and strategic ‌expert, told⁣ Al jazeera that the success‍ of the Palestinian resistance in executing a complex ⁢nighttime chain operation⁤ against Israeli⁤ occupation forces highlights their efficiency and signals declining readiness and combat effectiveness across various branches of ⁢the israeli army.

He described⁢ the operation carried out‍ in⁣ Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern gaza City as distinctive both strategically‌ and tactically.‌ Abu Zeid noted that conducting ⁤this operation in an‍ area where Israeli forces are striving to advance‍ demonstrates their‍ unpreparedness for military action. He pointed to erosion within their equipment, organizational structure, manpower shortages, as ⁤well as‍ internal tensions between political and‍ military leadership.

Analyzing ‍Gaza’s military posture, Abu ⁤Zeid explained that⁣ the intensity of firepower unleashed ‍by Israel indicates efforts to‌ halt clashes with resistance fighters and rescue their ‍soldiers. This suggests ‌Hamas successfully ‍captured at⁤ least one Israeli soldier during⁤ these engagements.

Israeli media reported activation of “Hannibal protocol” amid attacks on troops operating inside al-Zaytoun to ‍prevent soldiers from being ‍captured.

Abu Zeid also pointed out that what transpired in Al-Zaytoun validates ‌statements made⁣ earlier⁢ by Abu Ubaida-the spokesperson for Hamas’s Izz al-Din ⁤al-Qassam Brigades-who‌ emphasized at nightfall that capturing enemy soldiers is not merely ⁢a media threat but a strategic tool aimed at breaking operational balance with Israel.

In a series of Telegram posts late Friday⁢ afternoon, ⁤Abu⁢ Ubaida stated that Qassam fighters remain on high alert and fully prepared ⁢to deliver tough lessons to occupiers. He stressed any captive ‍killed during hostilities would‌ be publicly identified with name, image, and proof of death.

Nidal Abu Zeid ‌added that⁤ Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement about launching the first‌ phase of “Operation ⁣Gideon Wagons 2” feeds illusions both⁤ among Israelis and ⁤within Washington.

Israeli media reported ‍last night that regime soldiers faced⁣ repeated ambushes by resistance forces inside ‍Al-Zaytoun neighborhood. They‍ confirmed at least two ‍soldiers were killed and eleven others wounded during these operations. Additionally, contact has been lost⁢ with four Israel Defense Forces⁢ members who ⁢are potentially held‍ captive by Hamas fighters.
