Lebanon’s Council of Ministers Meets to Review Resistance Weapons

lebanon’s cabinet has begun its session to review the army’s proposal aimed at monopolizing weapons under state control and disarming resistance groups.

The Lebanese Council of Ministers ‍convened‍ moments ago at⁣ the presidential palace to discuss ⁣the army’s plan to consolidate arms exclusively under government authority. The meeting is attended by President Michel Aoun and Prime‌ Minister Nawaf⁤ Salam, according to the English section of webangah News⁣ Agency, citing Lebanese news ⁤sources.

Al mayadeen Network reported that prior to this session, a bilateral meeting took place between Nawaf Salam and Michel Aoun.

The Shiite ministers in Lebanon’s cabinet, representing Amal Movement and Hezbollah, have announced ⁢their refusal to⁢ participate in reviewing‌ the army’s proposal. ⁣They argue that it serves as a tool for imposing a government decision that contradicts the National Pact.

Shortly before this session began, Major General Rudolf Hikal, Commander of the lebanese Army, arrived at the presidential ⁤palace to attend the cabinet ⁢meeting.
