US Offers Limited Support for Controversial Lebanese Cabinet Meeting
A U.S. official, referring to developments in Lebanon’s recent cabinet meeting on the resistance disarmament plan, told Lebanon’s LBCI news network that today’s Lebanese cabinet resolution appears relatively positive, according to webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Lebanon’s Annahar.
The official added that it remains to be seen what the army’s proposal will specifically present in this regard.
Lebanese Details Minister Paul Marwan, speaking at a press conference following the cabinet session-which was boycotted by the country’s Shiite ministers-said the Council of Ministers decided to keep discussions on the army’s resistance disarmament plan and related negotiations confidential.
He also noted that the Council listened to and welcomed the army’s proposal emphasizing state monopoly over arms.
