3,000 Die in Afghanistan Earthquake
The World Health Association has reported that nearly 3,000 people have died in the recent earthquake in Afghanistan.
The latest report from the World Health Organization indicates that nearly 3,000 people have died, 4,000 injured, and more than 84,000 affected by the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Nuristan provinces.
At least 16 health centers across these four provinces sustained damage. Aftershocks continue to affect the region.
Afghan officials announced on Friday that the death toll had reached 2,200 with 3,640 others wounded.
A magnitude 6 earthquake struck east Afghanistan’s Nangarhar and Kunar provinces just after midnight on August 31. The quake reduced adobe homes and narrow village streets to rubble.
