US Treasury Secretary announces‍ readiness ‌to increase pressure on Russia‌ but calls for cooperation from European partners.

The United States announced ​today, Sunday,‌ that it is prepared to impose sanctions on countries purchasing Russian oil to exert economic pressure, ‍in⁤ cooperation wiht European nations, ‍according ​to the English section of webangah News‌ Agency,citing Mehr News Agency.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant told NBC News: ‌”We are ‌ready⁤ to increase pressure on Russia but need⁢ our European partners ⁢to cooperate with us. Right now, we are in⁢ a race between how long the Ukrainian military can hold out and how ⁣long⁣ the Russian economy can endure.”

Bessant claimed: “If the United states ‌and [the European Union] ​reach this stage and implement additional sanctions along with secondary⁢ tariffs against countries buying Russian⁣ oil, the Russian economy will ⁤face total collapse. this will bring President Putin to the negotiating table.”
