Qatar Foreign Ministry Responds to Netanyahu’s Threats: We Will Hold You Accountable
The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement condemning the provocative and reckless remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Hamas’ office in Qatar, according to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News agency and Al Jazeera. The ministry affirmed it will work with its partners to hold Netanyahu accountable and put an end to his irresponsible actions.
The ministry emphasized that Netanyahu’s attempt to portray Qatar as secretly hosting a Hamas delegation is a desperate effort to justify a crime condemned by the international community.
The statement expressed Doha’s condemnation of Netanyahu’s justification of fainthearted attacks on Qatari territory.
Furthermore, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry denounced Israel’s prime minister’s explicit threats suggesting possible future violations of its sovereignty.
Qatar clarified that hosting the Hamas office is part of mediation efforts requested by Washington and Tel Aviv themselves.
The statement highlighted that Netanyahu is well aware the Hamas office has played a pivotal role in successful prisoner exchange operations and ceasefires.
Qatar affirmed negotiations were carried out officially, openly, with international support and in presence of American and Israeli delegations.
The ministry also rejected comparisons drawn by Netanyahu between Israeli measures and post-9/11 actions against al-Qaeda, calling it an unsuccessful attempt to justify his deceitful behavior.
It further noted such remarks are unsurprising from someone who resorts to extremist rhetoric for political gain while facing international legal scrutiny.
this rhetoric also comes from an individual increasingly isolated internationally amid growing sanctions against him.
The extensive global solidarity with Qatar demonstrates that reckless threats against national sovereignty are entirely unacceptable, the statement said.
Qatar reaffirmed its commitment as a reliable, neutral international partner working toward strengthening security and stability regionally and globally. It pledged to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territory.
The government reiterated adherence to international law and United Nations Charter principles while urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities accordingly.
Qatar called on the global community to reject Netanyahu’s inflammatory Islamophobic rhetoric and prevent politically deceptive efforts undermining mediation processes and peace initiatives.
On Wednesday evening, Israel’s prime minister demanded Qatar expel or prosecute Hamas leaders residing ther whom he labeled as “terrorists.”
In a video released by Israel’s Prime Minister Office, he stated: “To Qatar and all countries sheltering terrorists: Either expel them or hand them over for justice. Otherwise, we will take care of it ourselves.”
