Poland Calls for Emergency UN Security Council Meeting on Airspace Violation
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Poland’s permanent representative to the United Nations has urged the Security Council to convene an emergency session over repeated violations of Polish airspace by Russia and Belarus.
He described the entry of Russian drones and military equipment into Polish skies as a perilous escalation in Moscow’s ongoing aggression. He warned, “this action pushes the region closer to the vortex of a broader conflict.”
In this context, diplomatic sources told Reuters that five Security Council member states have requested that a council meeting be held on Friday to discuss Russia’s airspace infringements against Poland.
The sources did not disclose which countries made this request.
