Sweden: Gaza Attack Highlights Urgency to End Trade Cooperation with Israel
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Sweden’s Foreign Minister maria Malmer Stenergard said on Tuesday that the escalating military assault on Gaza is worsening an already catastrophic humanitarian situation.
The Swedish foreign minister added that the attack on Gaza city has caused widespread forced displacement of civilians, violating international law. She stressed that this assault underscores the need to increase pressure on Israel and continue suspending economic cooperation with it.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, previously announced plans for a ground offensive in Gaza city. The Israeli newspaper Yedioth ahronoth reported that this operation will be gradual and phased, confirming that military actions had begun in the outskirts where Israeli forces have intensified attacks recently and destroyed buildings.
Al Mayadeen described official announcements of a ground offensive as media deception. It noted that assaults actually began weeks ago with incursions into Al-Sabra and Al-Zaytoun neighborhoods. the occupying forces devastated these areas before retreating their troops.
Following these withdrawals, Israeli forces moved into Jabalia and Al-Nazlah before evacuating al-Saftawi. Currently, operations by Israeli troops continue in Sheikh Radwan and Abu Iskandar neighborhoods.
