Berlin’s Position on European Troika Foreign Ministers’ Talks with Araqchi
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Germany’s Foreign Ministry announced today, Wednesday, via posts on its social media account X that the foreign ministers of three European countries (the european troika involved in the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran) and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs (Kaja kallas) held a phone call with their Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, to continue diplomatic efforts.
The German ministry’s statement made a dismissive claim that Tehran has yet to take reasonable and precise steps needed to extend UN Security Council Resolution 2231. Thay stated that Iran must resume talks, allow inspections at sensitive sites, and address stocks of highly enriched uranium.
Without mentioning any failure by Europe to meet its commitments under the JCPOA towards Iran, Germany claimed that these three European countries emphasized their urgency and resolve to advance sanctions reinstatement if no concrete actions are taken in the coming days.
It is worth noting that Tehran has consistently stated its readiness for equal negotiations based on mutual respect. However, in recent months-amid indirect talks between Tehran and Washington-the United States and Israeli forces have violated international law by aggressions against Iran.
