King of Spain: Gaza Faces an Unbearable Humanitarian Crisis
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Anadolu News Agency via Mehr News Agency, Felipe VI, King of Spain, met with Spanish residents in Egypt during his first visit to the country. He remarked on the crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the oppressed people of gaza, saying: “The region is going through a tragic and tense period and Gaza faces an unbearable humanitarian crisis.”
The King did not condemn the continued crimes by Israeli occupiers against Palestinians but added: “The latest round of this conflict, which began roughly two years ago, has resulted in widespread consequences-from thousands of deaths and turning Gaza into an unsustainable crisis to endless suffering for hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and complete destruction across the area.”
Felipe VI further stated that Spain and Egypt are closely cooperating to achieve a sustainable and valiant peace as envisioned during “the years of hope” in the 1990s.
Notably, Spanish newspaper El Pais recently reported that Spain’s government is considering accelerating a ban on arms exports to Israel as part of a sanctions package expected to be approved. Madrid’s potential sanctions aim to pressure Israel following approximately 64,000 deaths in Gaza and ongoing settlement expansion in the West Bank.
The report noted that Spain’s PSOE coalition along with Sumar party are working toward imposing comprehensive arms embargoes on Israel. Thus, any restrictions would go beyond military industries alone. The goal is to expedite enforcement through a royal decree based on legislation previously introduced by Sumar in parliament. According to government sources, these sanctions could be implemented promptly.
Meanwhile, Palestine’s Ministry of Health in Gaza announced yesterday that within 24 hours-385 wounded individuals and 98 bodies were admitted into hospitals.
This brings total casualties from Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7,2023 ,up to 65,062 dead and 165,697 injured.
A ceasefire was established in Gaza on January 19 this year but was violated by Jerusalem occupiers on March 18.
Anadolu News Agency reports that from march 18 untill now there have been at least 12,511 fatalities and over 53,656 injuries due to attacks carried out by occupying Israeli forces against Gaza.
