Cuba Urges UN to Prevent US from Igniting War in Region
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik via Mehr News Agency, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez condemned the United States on thursday after its military targeted a Venezuelan ship in international waters. He called on the United Nations to prevent the U.S. from igniting conflict in the region.
Rodríguez warned that America’s claimed fight against drug trafficking, used as a national security justification, “creates a dangerous situation that threatens peace and security.”
The Cuban official emphasized that today, the United States serves as a major financial hub and primary center for laundering foreign assets linked to transnational organized crime, mainly drug trafficking.
This comes amid recent weeks when the U.S. struck two Venezuelan vessels in international waters under its anti-drug trafficking campaign.
