Russia: Attack on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Undermines Non-Proliferation Regime
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, issued a statement during the IAEA General Conference condemning Israeli and US attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites in June.
He described these attacks as a “purposeful and unjustified aggression” that dealt a severe blow to the entire non-proliferation regime, as well as to the IAEA’s safeguards system and its overall capacity to carry out its legal responsibilities.
The Russian envoy also sharply criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency for failing to take a stand against these US and Israeli actions.
The statement added: ”Almost three months after these attacks, the IAEA has still not been able to adopt an explicit, clear, and-most importantly-collective stance condemning the reckless actions of the United States and Israel.”
