Iraqi Source Reveals: Rising Conflicts in Syria and Foiled Assassination of Julani
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Lebanon’s Al-Nahar newspaper quoted a senior Iraqi security source who revealed that Iraqi intelligence provided Damascus with crucial information about an assassination plan targeting abu Mohammad Jolani, leader of the terrorist factions ruling Syria, effectively preventing its execution.
The Iraqi source added that alongside the assassination attempt on Jolani, a series of explosions were planned across various regions in syria.
He stated that several members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham loyal to Jolani have split from the group adn expressed their dissatisfaction with his conduct since gaining power. Earlier reports from other media also pointed to an intensification of power struggles in Syria, particularly over control of oil-rich areas in the country.
