UK Recognizes Palestine Officially Today, Sunday

According to⁢ the English section of​ webangah News‌ Agency, citing Mehr News⁣ Agency and⁤ Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, the British ⁣newspaper ⁤The Telegraph reported that ‌UK Prime Minister Keir ⁢Starmer will⁤ issue⁤ a statement today, Sunday, announcing his intention to recognize an independent Palestinian state.

The Telegraph ⁢added that ‍to address criticism of ‍this decision,new ‌sanctions ‌will be imposed on Hamas.

Previously, Portugal‍ also announced it would recognize ⁢an independent Palestinian state on Sunday.

French President Emmanuel⁢ Macron announced late Friday that France will recognize the independent Palestinian state at the United Nations this Monday.

He⁤ emphasized: “I reiterated to⁤ Mahmoud Abbas⁣ that France will recognize the Palestinian government ‘on Monday in New York.'”

The ​French news ​agency⁣ AFP ⁤quoted the Élysée ⁣Palace as saying that in addition to France, nine other countries plan to officially recognize the palestinian government during a conference ⁢in New York ⁢on Monday.
