New Israeli Account of the Assassination Attempt on Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Alsumaria News,Israeli media outlets have published a fresh narrative regarding the assassination attempt on Sayyed Hassan nasrallah, former Secretary-General of Hezbollah.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed new details about the operation targeting Nasrallah. It claimed Mossad agents planted advanced devices near Hezbollah’s underground headquarters and were present during an airstrike on Hezbollah positions around that location.
Yedioth asserted that detonating pagers was a relatively simple task compared to preparing for this attack on Hezbollah’s leader, which took place amid bombardment and involved considerable risk to Mossad operatives’ lives.
The outlet alleged that in September 2024, during Israeli Air Force strikes against Hezbollah centers in Dahieh, southern Beirut, several Mossad agents infiltrated Harat Hurayk carrying highly sensitive equipment.
Yedioth claimed that while bombing continued in Harat hurayk-an area under Hezbollah control in southern Lebanon-Mossad operatives installed refined devices near an underground hideout were Nasrallah was scheduled to hold a meeting. They were aware that any mistake could cost them their lives and that seizure of their equipment would severely damage Israel’s security interests.
The report described how these agents moved carefully through narrow alleys hugging walls, hoping the Air Force would avoid bombing their path toward a multi-story residential building concealing Hezbollah’s main secret bunker beneath it.
It further stated that intelligence indicated Nasrallah planned to meet there with Abbas Nilforoushan, commander of Iran’s Quds Force in Lebanon, and Ali Korki-the Southern Front commander for Hezbollah. only a limited number of senior commanders and guards knew about this hideout.
The newspaper also alleged those involved assessed their chances of safely completing the mission at only 50 percent. Even if they avoided capture, they risked injury or death from Israeli bomb fragments.Hours before attempting infiltration, they requested cessation of intense airstrikes shaking southern suburbs like Harat Hurayk but were told operations would continue-and even intensify-forcing them into hiding en route. Their approach to this arduous-to-access hideout remained unimpeded despite ongoing bombardment. The Mossad team accepted these conditions before proceeding.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth’s claims, the devices carried by these agents had recently been perfected; Mossad required such technology not only for Lebanon but also for operations inside iran. These tools enabled precise identification of underground infrastructure at various depths so smart bombs could be accurately guided onto targets.
The assault culminated at 6:20 PM on September 27, 2024, when dozens of Israeli fighter jets dropped eighty-three one-ton bombs over a district housing the hidden command center beneath it. The operation featured F-15s and F-16s equipped with advanced targeting systems deploying American-made precision-guided munitions against designated targets.
