Dujarric: Guterres Stresses the Importance of Overcoming Israel’s Intimidation Approach
The English section of webangah News Agency reported, citing Mehr News Agency, that Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, told Al Jazeera that the New York conference is important and it’s importance goes beyond symbolism. The UN Secretary-General underscores the need to overcome Israel’s approach of intimidation.
Dujarric added that Guterres has been firm in his positions on the Palestinian issue, while others have shifted theirs. “We all know the reality of the Security Council; the UN General Assembly can play a constructive role,” he said.
He also expressed regret over the United States’ refusal to grant a visa to Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine and head of the Palestinian Authority. ”What we now need is political courage from world leaders to work toward achieving a ceasefire and ending the catastrophe in Gaza,” Dujarric stated.
