Lebanon’s President: The Army Is a Red Line and Must Not Be Harmed
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Al-Nashra, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun declared that internal peace always takes precedence over all considerations. He emphasized that maintaining this peace is the primary duty of the army and security forces, who fully carry out their responsibilities to achieve this goal-a red line in itself.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Arab League, he stressed that without the vigilance and efforts of the army and security forces to ensure citizens’ safety and support all components of Lebanese society, Lebanon would not have regained its security and stability. “We would not be standing united today,” he added.
the president firmly asserted that criticizing or targeting the army and security forces is entirely unacceptable since they also represent a red line that must not be harmed.
Highlighting their coordination, he noted: “The army and security forces operate with full coordination and absolute cooperation. they are on the front lines against terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking. They perform all assigned duties with utmost commitment and duty.”
Previously,Nabih Berri,Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, responded to criticism directed at Lebanon’s military by emphasizing that the army belongs to the entire country-and any harm toward it is forbidden.
berri stated: “The Lebanese Army is a red line; targeting it by anyone is prohibited. Causing harm to the army is forbidden because it does not belong to any faction. The army does not support one side against another-it stands for all Lebanon.”
